At Hotel Allegra in Pontresina, David Trubridge’s Kina, Kōura and Hinaki are used in the foyer and throughout the restaurant and bar, complementing the hotel’s distinctive architectural language.
The foyer opens vertically through the centre of the hotel, with rooms and galleries arranged across several levels around the central void. Suspended at different heights, the fixtures become part of this open volume, creating a visual connection between the floors.
The same design language continues into the restaurant and bar, where the three designs are used above the seating areas. Their open structures and natural bamboo construction sit naturally within the hotel’s warm material palette, adding a light, sculptural layer overhead.
There is a natural affinity between the architecture and David Trubridge’s work: both make use of natural materials, organic forms and an openness that allows light, space and structure to remain visible.
Rather than standing apart as decorative objects, Kina, Kōura and Hinaki feel integrated into the identity of the hotel — adding warmth, rhythm and a distinctly crafted character throughout the spaces.
