Scandic CPH Strandpark was conceived as a city resort by the sea, with 357 rooms spread across twelve floors alongside restaurants, wellness and conference facilities. Located at Amager Strandvej in Kastrup, the hotel looks directly towards the marina and the Øresund.
For the meeting rooms, we supplied David Trubridge’s Maru, part of the Diatom Collection. Inspired by the microscopic forms found in the sea, the design feels particularly at home here, with the water just beyond the glass.
The meeting room is shaped by its long view towards the Øresund. Full-height glazing runs along one side, while walnut panelling, cognac leather and grey carpet create a warm, muted interior that absorbs the changing daylight.
Several Maru pendants are suspended in a line above the meeting table. Their flat, open form is made from narrow bamboo slats, allowing the light to escape through the structure rather than shining directly down. Positioned high above the table, they provide a soft, indirect light without glare on screens or faces.
When switched off, the four pendants become sculptural elements in their own right — four repeated forms that give rhythm to the long room and define the meeting table within the architecture.
