For Ulvedalene, the Royal Danish Theatre’s open-air venue in the beech forests north of Copenhagen, we created a custom lighting fixture designed specifically for its unique surroundings.
There is no architecture here to define the lighting. Instead, the fixtures stand among the trees on simple timber posts, their open structure glowing warmly from within. The design takes the form of an upward-opening cup made from timber slats, creating a soft, almost flame-like light.
The idea was to accompany guests on their way back through the forest after an evening performance. Set along the paths, the warm points of light appear between the beech trees, gently marking the way without introducing the harshness of conventional outdoor lighting.
A custom light created for a place where architecture gives way to nature, and where illumination becomes part of the journey itself.
