Inside the Göckelesmaier beer tent at Stuttgart’s Cannstatter Wasen, Karls Loge offers a more intimate setting within one of Germany’s great beer festival traditions. David Trubridge’s KINA pendants help define the space.

The interior combines spruce beams, reclaimed parquet furniture and the characteristic yellow of the bar, creating a warm and crafted atmosphere within the temporary structure of the beer tent.

KINA pendants are suspended through the centre of the lounge, with further pieces above the bar and standing tables. Their open, organic structures bring a softer, sculptural element to the lively festival setting.

But KINA is particularly well suited to this unusual environment. The beer tent is erected for the festival season and dismantled again every year — and the KINA pendants follow the same cycle. Made from flat-cut plywood components, they are designed to be assembled and disassembled, packed away and brought back to life for the next season.

A permanent lighting design for a temporary place — returning to the Wasen year after year, just like the festival itself.
