At the Bestzeit in Parpan, Switzerland, David Trubridge’s Coral becomes a colourful focal point in the hotel’s two-storey lounge.

Seven Coral pendants in different sizes, colours and heights are suspended through the double-height space, creating a loose composition that follows the architecture rather than filling it uniformly. Their inner surfaces introduce shades of red, orange, bordeaux and natural wood, echoing the warm tones of the lounge furniture.

During the day, the natural timber structure sits quietly against the spruce walls. After dark, the colours come alive from within, casting intricate shadows across the timber and adding another layer to the room.

Set against the alpine landscape beyond the windows and the glow of the open fire, the installation brings warmth and colour to a space designed for guests to unwind after a day in the mountains.

A playful composition of light, colour and natural material, perfectly at home in its alpine surroundings.
