For Alveis, the beekeeping brand of Chemicals Laif in the province of Padua, the interior needed to reflect the world of bees without becoming overly literal.
The visual language is subtle: a hexagonal pattern on the walls, a delicate wire bee at reception and a name derived from alveus, the Latin word for beehive.
For the entrance, we supplied David Trubridge’s Coral. Its organic structure of interlocking elements creates a delicate, cellular pattern that feels naturally connected to the world of the hive.
Against the flat, grey ceiling grid, a composition of several Coral pendants creates a strong focal point. Three different sizes are suspended at varying heights, with turquoise inner surfaces adding a discreet touch of colour. Together, they bring warmth and depth to the otherwise neutral setting.
The more elongated pendant Nikau hangs separately against the dark wall panel, adding another layer to the composition.
The result is an entrance that feels considered both day and night — where the lighting is as much part of the identity of the space as the architecture itself.
