The story of the Baskets of Light is based on a Māori myth in which three baskets were used to bring knowledge down from the gods to the people of the land.
Originally released in 2009, they were  redesigned in 2020 to exclude plastic. Now they are made from ultra thin (0.7mm) Finnish birch plywood. They emit a glowing lantern effect which also highlights the grain of the ply.
